Who are Superfast South Yorkshire?
Superfast South Yorkshire is a partnership of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield Local Authorities and South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. It was established to deliver faster broadband to areas where it had not been commercially viable to invest.
The first phase of our roll-out was delivered in partnership with Openreach completed in September 2019. It saw almost £27m funding invested to reach an additional 95,000 premises. The second phase is currently in delivery and has brought gigabit capable broadband on the Openreach network to an additional 5,000 premises so far.
As of March 2023, the South Yorkshire region has 99% superfast and 73.49% gigabit-capable broadband availability.
Superfast South Yorkshire are working to support BDUK to deliver Project Gigabit across South Yorkshire on behalf of the local authorities.
